Welcome! :-)
Hi there!
It is so nice to meet you! Welcome to my corner of the internet!
I am Amanda. But, in my family, my older sister is “number one,” and I am “number two.” It has been that way since I was a little kid, and it is all in good fun.
I am an elder Millennial who loves side parts (when I have hair, anyway!), skinny jeans, and pop punk emo songs from the 2000’s (but never Nickelback). I know what it means to “be kind, rewind,” and I was an avid reader of “The Baby-Sitters Club.” The nineties will forever be 10 years ago, and I finished undergrad before the first iPhone was released.
My friends know me as a passionate visual creative. I am a freelance graphic and web designer, but it is photography that has held my interest since I was a kid. I officially closed my small photography business in 2023, but I still pick up my camera every chance I can get. Over the last decade, I have shot everything from astrophotography to boudoir to an end-of-life session for a beloved senior pet. However, weddings are not — and never will be — my thing. They are a different beast entirely, and not one meant for me.
I am also fat, queer, and neurodivergent. I currently use she/they pronouns, but that may change as I continue to further explore my own gender identity. Some know me as a “glam femme,” and others know me as a “butch masc.” It honestly depends on the day as I work to embrace more and more gender fluidity.
It may be a surprise to those who know me personally, but writing has always been a way for me to escape. It helps me to process whatever thoughts are trapped inside my head. I have written about everything from my every day lived experiences to world events to challenging the status quo of society. I journal every night, and about 98% of what I write is never shared with anyone. It is time, though, for that other 2% to make it’s way out into the world, which is where Substack fits in to everything.
Again, welcome to my corner of the internet. I think you are going to like it here.
— Amanda
